Daniel O’Connor is the Founder of Warp It, the UK’s largest reuse network, which has now expanded into the US and Australia and continues to go from strength to strength. He is also the Founder of Sustainability Entrepreneur and wants to see other like-minded individuals start projects that can change the world.
Who am I?
I used to work in the public sector, in universities and healthcare, but I’ve always been more interested in entrepreneurship. I set up a few businesses that failed, which is a good thing I suppose, because it’s the best way to learn. Years ago, when I was working in a large organisation, I spotted a big opportunity, so I started working on a solution in my free time. After 2 years it was profitable and competing with my salary, so I left my job to work full time on Warp It. Over the last 5 years this idea has turned into a business that has made a huge impact on large organisations, saving so much carbon and waste.
What do I do?
I find problems and then I come up with ideas to solve them. I’ve had 20 big ideas every morning before I even get into the shower. One morning I knew that I needed to help other people on their journeys, using their knowledge and experience of working in sustainability to create their own solutions. So, Sustainability Entrepreneur was born.
Why do I do it?
To save the world and help people. To help people working full-time who have ideas but don’t know if they’re viable and can’t find the time to work on them. I want to facilitate support for you, so I started Sustainability Entrepreneur and built a team of helpers from around different areas of sustainability to bring your sustainability service to life.
