Topic: What we love

What we love this December 2018 - fun! Lots of it.

Even though we’re grown up, having fun is still important.

Laughing with friends, playing a game, reading a book, or watching your favourite television programme might be called leisure activities, but the health benefits associated with good old-fashioned fun are well-documented and nothing short of incredible.

Make time to have fun; in fact, prioritise it!

In the meantime, look through the things we love this month – all guaranteed to put a smile on your face!

Your choice
choice
The decisions we make affect how we feel and what we do. Watch this short, animated film, about how your small everyday life choices can ultimately shape your life – for the better!

Ask Siri
Siri 2
The good folk at Time Out decide to ask, Siri, the digital personal assistant created by Apple, as a human being. She may be useful when recommending the best restaurants and the newest movies but the answers to these more existential questions will provoke uncontrollable fits of laughter. Check it out!

Documentaries to make positive change
doc
Documentaries have an amazing power to raise awareness and create changes both at the personal and global levels.

This library catalogues the very best 100 documentaries hand-picked for their quality, insight and potential to inspire positive change. All the films have been selected because they’re either free to watch online or can be rented online. A more beautiful, just and sustainable world is possible!

Next wave
Wow, this is amazing and works! NextWave is keeping plastic out of the ocean and in our economy. By employing people living in coastal regions, the group collects discarded plastic within 30 miles of waterways to prevent it from making its way to the sea.

Recycled Island Foundation
In July this year, the first Recycled Park opened in the Rotterdam harbour. Floating debris from the rivers and port is retrieved and recycled to create a floating park of 140m2.

The aim is to illustrate that recycled plastic from the open waters is a valuable material and suitable for recycling. By re-using the retrieved plastics and by producing building blocks with them, the plastics receive new value.

Who’s that girl?
This wooden guessing game celebrates inspirational women throughout history. Made from high-quality Baltic birch wood, each board comes with 28 laser-cut frames featuring hand-drawn portraits by artist Daria Gołąb.

The women featured represent a variety of professions, nationalities, and ages. Instead of asking “does your person wear a hat?” or “does your person wear glasses?” the key to winning is to identify each person by asking about her accomplishments, rather than her appearance.

30 brilliant test answers from smart kids

clever 2

These test answers some bright pupils came up with are not just funny but also capture the powers of puns and their creativity. Should all kids be penalised for thinking outside of the box and coming up with innovative solutions to problems? We don’t think so!
