Our way of doing things is reaching its limits. The take-make-waste system no longer works for industry, people or our environment.
It’s time to shift the system by designing out waste and pollution, keeping products and materials in use, and regenerating natural systems.
Known as the circular economy, it's a system based on the idea that what is made can be used, reused, recycled and remade for use once again with as little waste as possible.
Shifting the system involves everyone and everything: businesses, governments, and individuals; our cities, our products, and our jobs.

Reuse is an activity that can have an enormous return on investment... when done right. The returns that can be gained are not only financial (due to budget and time savings), but also environmental, thanks to being more resourceful and avoiding sending useful assets to landfill. As part of my usual daily call routine I have been speaking to sustainability managers coming back to work after the Easter break.
Many of them are saying that the David Attenborough, Extinction Rebellion, Climate Emergency declarations are helping them push their sustainability objectives.

Sometimes it doesn't even feel like work because you are so absorbed in this mission.
Those who are most successful in this position are the people who understand that delivering sustainability is a part of their character and not just a means of getting paid.
The most successful also understand they cannot do it alone, that sustainability is achieved via collaboration. Which subsequently means collaborative skills are top of the list.
In the past being successful has also been about the long game and waiting for the planets to align...but this has to change.
